20 World’s Wonderful Alpine Roads Where You Can Enjoy the Exhilarating Feeling

Route de Gentelly–France

Gentelly is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is the closest commune to Paris, located 4.1km from the city center. The name Gentelly was recorded for the first time in the 6th century, a royal estate of some importance where coinage was minted. However, some other researchers think that the name is connected with Latin gentiles in reference to foreign goldsmiths who may have settled in Gentelly in the early middle ages. The drive starts in the picturesque town of Vence situated in Alpes-Maritimes. First head up in the mountains to Col de Vence, a biker’s favorite in the area.

From Col de Vence the road continues through Gréolières, from where you will take an upright turn to one of our favorite roads in the Alpes-Maritimes, Route de Gentelly. The wooden fences follow the lines of a very twisty road that reveals you with a new picture-perfect setting behind nearly every corner. When you stop for a rest at one of the ascendancy points, with marvelous views over a deep green mountain valley, you almost feel like you are on top of the world.
