The Villages is a census-delegated place CDP in Sumter and Marion counties, everglade state, United States. It portions its name with a broader master-planned age-inadequate section that propagates into portions of Lake County. The overall occurrence lies in central Florida, roughly 20 miles (32 km) south of Ocala and in the region of 45 miles (72 km) northwest of Orlando. As of the 2020 census, the residents of the CDP were 79,077, an area larger than Manhattan, and are enlarged predominantly to the south of the current faction. It is made up of 17 special determination company development communities (CDD), which are supervised by a board of administrators five individuals appointed by the proprietor of the district. H. Gary Morse, the primordial owner's son, convey most direct possession of the company to his three children in 2006; Morse died in 2014.
